Summer Internship Position Available at GE Global Research
Students,
I would like to announce that I have an undergraduate internship position available for this summer at GE’s Global Research and Development headquarters in Niskayuna, NY. This is a PAID internship working in the areas of Java software development, web technologies, and database systems.
The intern will learn the full software development lifecycle with a focus on software build systems and code quality. You will get experience working on Java software build systems (like Hudson, Ant, Maven), and code quality & static analysis tools (like Checkstyle, PMD, FindBugs, and so on).
You will have the opportunity to develop new features/extensions to several of these open source tools. The intern will also get to develop a database solution, upgrade an existing Java-based web site to use the database, and integrate the open source solutions they develop into the entire platform.
At the end of the internship you will have impacted the code quality development processes of all of GE Global Research’s Java software applications. Throughout the internship you will get an opportunity to develop a number of soft skills such as communication, project management, and leadership.
Additional info about the position and internship program :
- The position is paid
- It is part of a formal intern program (there are usually 15-25 other summer interns on site to network and socialize with).
- If interested, you will have the opportunity to meet and hold discussions with people who are experts in almost any kind of technology such as wireless networking, super computing clusters, AI, security, database management, operating systems architects, etc.
